We have always believed that form should not simply follow function, but be inspired by it, and that good design arises from a harmonious expression of both. When it comes to fly reels, the basic parameters – weight, retrieve speed, line storage, drag torque, ergonomics – must be balanced with each other to build a high-performance reel and collectively provide the basis for the planning. By far the most important of these are weight and retrieve speed, because the ratio between the two defines what is considered a large arbor reel. Simply put, think of these two parameters as the rate of recovery per ounce, and so the holy grail of fly reel design is an architecture that produces the lightest possible construction for a given diameter, without sacrificing reliability and durability. Enter the completely redesigned Speedster reels. They feature an improved coil processing technique, concentrating material only where it is needed – which is why both are significantly lighter and higher performing than their predecessors. But, more importantly, the form and style of each clearly derives from the same place; allowing dimensions of structure and function to inspire beauty.

RECOMMENDED CARE:

1) Do not under any circumstances remove the drag knob or the two-hole nut in the center of the drag knob.

2) Always make sure that the packing cap is tight, especially before using the reel for the first time or after reversing the recovery direction. Be sure to periodically check that the cap is securely inserted; It must always be tightened firmly by hand, do not use a tool. The packing plug should sit fully on the drive cylinder if installed correctly.

3) The drive system is designed to operate without lubrication. Do not use any type of oil or lubricant in or around the drag system. You can apply a small amount of WD-40 to the recovery handle to remove any dirt buildup between the handle and the handle shaft.

Fresh Water Use: Occasionally rinse the reel thoroughly under fresh running water and clean the spool and frame to remove any debris or dirt buildup. Be sure to clean the spool pin and keep it free of debris.

Saltwater Use: Be sure to rinse your reel under fresh running water after each use in a salty environment. Occasionally, flush the clutch by doing the following:

1) Remove the coil, unscrew the packing cap and remove the red and silver clutch assembly.

2) Thoroughly rinse all components, including the inside of the drive cylinder, with fresh running water.

3) Allow all components to dry completely before reassembling them.
