SONAR STILLWATER TAIL
Hover
One day, a long time ago, in a realm far, far away, we dreamed of a line that would sink, but not too much, a line that would simply hang below the surface. Fast forward thousands of years and the SONAR Stillwater Hover sinking fly line was born. Built with an extremely slow sink rate, the Hover is downright unpleasant when it comes to fishing streamers with a slow retrieve. It's a legend, at least in our minds.
- Designed specifically for the needs of stillwater anglers
- Based on the popular MPX cone
- Overweighted by a full line weight for multiple flies and long leaders
- Hover with extra slow sinking (1 ips) for film fishing
- SA STILLWATER HOVER WF XH (X = line thickness)
Transparent camouflage
Transparent camouflage
How can something be clear and camouflaged? This is easy. We took a mottled core, sprinkled it with our new, supple clear coat, and we got SONAR Stillwater Clear Camo. Designed for the unique demands of stillwater fishing, the Clear Camo simply disappears beneath the surface and features a slow, intermediate sink rate to tempt fish sitting just below the cut.
- Designed specifically for the needs of stillwater anglers
- Based on the popular MPX cone
- Overweighted by a full line weight for multiple flies and long leaders
- Full midline (1.25 ips) on camouflage core for maximum stealth
- Features a brand new transparent and elastic material for reduced memory
- SA STILLWATER CAMO WF XI (X = line thickness)
TECHNOLOGY:
Scientific Anglers Line Identification
Discover the scientific angler line identification system. SA•ID is an innovative line tracking system that allows you to identify your lines at a glance. Who knows if a muzzle is 200 grains or 300? Just look at the SA•ID. The SA•ID can be found on the first 1-2 feet of the tip section of the line.
Advanced Shotting Technology PLUS
A new formulation of our patented dry-slick technology ensures continuous smoothness of the line throughout its life. Up to 50% stronger than the original AST and 200% stronger than the competition. Fly lines with AST Plus cast farther, float higher and stay cleaner than any line ever built.
Improved Dry Tip
Using a unique blend of microballoons, we have developed a line tip section that floats twice as high as a standard line. The tip section will float higher thanks to our Dry Tip technology, meaning less resistance from the front of the line and more positive hookups.
Welded Loops
Exceptionally smooth and durable, our Welded Loops produce smoother casts and easier turnover with a seamless transition from fly line to loop, ensuring softer landings and cleaner pickups. The sleek design also maintains buoyancy for improved line buoyancy and allows for quicker connections between line and leaders or line and backing.
Shooting Texture
Scientific Anglers' shooting texture features precisely replicated hemispherical cavities, similar to those found on the surface of a golf ball. This evolution of our texturing technology has less texture on its surface, so it looks like a traditional fly line but offers the benefits of texturing. The result is a line that lasts longer, floats higher, casts easier and, above all, fishes better.
Tactile Reference Point
The tactile reference point is a non-raised section of line where the end of the head meets the running line. This allows you to feel and hear the transition from our structured technologies.
Shark Skin Technology
When it was introduced, Sharkskin created an entirely new product category: textured fly lines. These lines, developed and produced at the Scientific Anglers facility in Midland, Michigan, represented one of the most interesting and revolutionary evolutions in the history of fly line technology. The benefits of textured lines were numerous: greater surface area allowed the lines to sit higher in the water, offering less drag, easier repairs, less water splash, and easier collections; the micro-textured surface trapped air to increase both shootability and flotation, all while decreasing friction; and the microreplicated model increased the lifespan of the lines, allowing them to last up to twice as long.
Sonar Sinking Technology
For every fish eating above, there are ten eating below. Our SONAR sinking technology takes the flies where the fish are: below the surface. Using proprietary tungsten formulations and a unique taper, SONAR sinking technology knocks down flies and keeps them there.
Camouflage tip
Our Camo technology creates a stealthy blend of subtle colors on fly lines, providing much-needed stealth for wary fish, in shallow water situations and whenever additional deception is needed.
RECOMMENDED CARE:
Cleaning with soap and water on a cloth removes most dirt, but cleaning swabs work even better. If properly cleaned, your lines will cast better and last longer, certainly a good trade-off for a couple of minutes of line maintenance. To use the cleaning swab, pinch the swab over the line so that the abrasive, non-foam side touches the line. Pull the line through the pad while maintaining some tension. Repeat this process until some of the fly line color is visible on the pad. Clean your lines every 2-3 rides, or whenever you think dirt is hindering their performance. Cleaning swabs are easy to carry in your vest or gear bag and can be used at any time, wet or dry. Please note that line dressing can be used to reduce drag during competitions or in practical casting scenarios, but we do not recommend it for fishing.
