FLY LINE AMPLITUDE ANADRO/NYMPH

The first series of lines to feature the revolutionary AST PLUS slickness additive, the Amplitude will shoot farther and last longer than any other line on the market. It’s slickness down to a science. If you’re anything like us, the allure of big fish and big rivers is intoxicating. That’s precisely why we created the Amplitude Anadro. Designed with line control in mind, its extended rear taper allows you to cast a mile, mend with authority, and turn over nearly any rig imaginable—from dredging double nymphs to larger dry-dropper concoctions. Steelhead, salmon, and trout won’t know what hit them.

- Features the revolutionary AST Plus slickness additive for superior shooting ability and increased durability

- Floating Texture on the tip section for the ultimate in flotation

- Shooting Texture running line delivers longer casts

- Long rear taper for extended line control and long-distance casting

- Overweighted by 1.5 sizes to assist in turning over heavy rigs

- Use one size heavy for switch rods

- For use in moderate and cold climates

- Braided multifilament core

- SA AMPLITUDE ANADRO WF X F (X = line weight)

TECHNOLOGY:

ADVANCED RECOVERY TECHNOLOGY PLUS: A new formulation of our patented dry-slick technology ensures continuous thread glide throughout its life. Up to 50% stronger than the original AST and 200% stronger than the competition. Fly lines with AST Plus cast farther, float higher and stay cleaner than any line ever built.

THE SLIMMEST LINES ON THE MARKET: Our revolutionary AST Plus smoothing additive produces the shiniest fly lines on the market, period. Fly lines with AST Plus are 50% slipperier than lines with our old AST slippery additive and nearly 70% slipperier than the closest competitor. Reduced drag results in longer casts, easier catches out of the water and lines that last longer than ever built

FLY LINE FRICTION – LOWER VALUES ARE THINNER

Y= Friction (Resistance = oz – f) | X = Length (inches)

How to read this graph: When we measure smoothness, we focus on grams of friction (or resistance) at startup. Friction on a fly line through the guides is inherently a bad thing, so lower drag values mean the lines are smoother and therefore work better. In this graph you can see that lines with AST Plus have much less friction at startup than lines with our old AST, and even less friction than lines from our major competitors.

ENHANCED DURABILITY: In addition to creating the smoothest lines on the planet, AST Plus increases the life of your fly lines by leaps and bounds. During our durability tests, threads with AST Plus consistently performed better than any other thread on the market. On average, lines with AST Plus last 862% longer than lines from our top three competitors.

How to read this chart: In our durability tests, we attach a weight to the end of a fishing line and pass it through the tip of a fly rod. One cycle constitutes the lowering and raising of this weight to provide friction through the guide. Looking at this graph, it is evident that lines with AST Plus last much longer than lines from our three main competitors. In fact, lines with AST Plus last over 120% longer than the closest competition and, on average, 862% longer than the top three competitors.

MAINTAINS SMOOTHNESS: One of the most unique and beneficial aspects of AST Plus is that it is a coating additive, meaning it is built right down to the core of each line and not just a coating that can wear off quickly. As our lines wear, AST Plus moves through the coating, constantly moving towards the surface to regenerate smoothness. This means that lines with AST Plus retain that ready-to-use softness long after you spool one onto your reel.

SCIENTIFIC ANGLERS LINE IDENTIFICATION: Discover the scientific anglers line identification system. SA•ID is an innovative line tracking system that allows you to identify your lines at a glance. Who knows if a muzzle is 200 grains or 300? Just look at the SA•ID. The SA•ID can be found on the first 1-2 feet of the tip section of the line.

WELDED LOOPS: Exceptionally smooth and durable, our Welded Loops produce smoother casts and easier turnover with a seamless transition from fly line to loop, ensuring softer landings and cleaner pickups. The sleek design also maintains buoyancy for improved line buoyancy and allows for quicker connections between line and leaders or line and backing.

IMPROVED DRY TIP: Using a unique blend of microballoons, we have developed a line tip section that floats twice as high as a standard line. The tip section will float higher thanks to our Dry Tip technology, meaning less resistance from the front of the line and more positive hookups.

SHOTTING TEXTURE: The Scientific Anglers Shooting Texture features precisely replicated hemispherical divots, similar to those found on a golf ball’s surface. This evolution of our texturing technology has less texture on its surface so it feels like a traditional fly line but performs with the benefits of texturing. The result is a line that lasts longer, floats higher, casts easier, and, most importantly, fishes better.

FLOATING TEXTURE: Featuring microreplication technology, the SA Floating Texture is a radical modification of typically smooth-surfaced fly lines. Its microtextured surface traps air to provide superior shootability and flotation while eliminating line flash and vastly reducing friction. Lines sit higher in the water, offering less drag and water spray, as well as easier mending, roll casting, and pick-ups.

TACTILE REFERENCE POINT: The Tactile Reference Point is a non embossed section of line where the end of the head meets the running line. This allows you to feel—and hear—the transition from our textured technologies.

RECOMMENDED CARE:

Do you think your floating line isn't floating as well as it used to or isn't as smooth as it used to be? The reasons and ways to solve this problem are probably quite simple. Fishing lines float because they are lighter than water and because they are hydrophobic; they repel water. In order for the lines to float at their best, both of these features must work. The density of the line will not change, it will not absorb water, it will not soak up and sink, but if it gets dirty it will not repel water well and will float lower in surface tension and may be dragged under water now then. The key to good flotation is to keep the lines clean so that the hydrophobic surface works. Cleaning with soap and water on a cloth removes most dirt, but cleaning swabs work even better. Cleaned properly, your lines will float better, cast better and last longer, definitely a good compromise for a couple of minutes of line maintenance. To use the cleaning swab, pinch the swab over the line so that the abrasive, non-foam side touches the line. Pull the line through the pad while maintaining some tension. Repeat this process until some of the fly line color is visible on the pad. Clean your lines every 2-3 rides, or whenever you think dirt is hindering their performance. Cleaning swabs are easy to carry in your vest or gear bag and can be used at any time, wet or dry. Please note that line dressing can be used to reduce drag during competitions or in practical casting scenarios, but we do not recommend it for fishing.
