FLY LINE AMPLITUDE SMOOTH MPX
The Amplitude Smooth Series lines are, simply put, the best performing soft fly lines in the world. With up to five times less drag and eight times more durability than traditional lines, this will change the way you look at fly line performance. Built in a half size, the Amplitude Smooth MPX cone starts where the GPX left off. Redesigned with more mass towards the front of the head, the MPX offers the same benefits as the GPX, with an added emphasis on presentation. The power is still there, just with a touch more finesse. Meet your new best friend.
- Features the revolutionary AST Plus gloss additive for superior pulling ability and longer life
- An excellent general presentation line for trout, panfish, bass, grayling and carp; also useful for rainbow trout, salmon and pike
- Made in half size, heavy for loading fast action rods, but works well with a variety of rod actions
- Ideal for large dry flies, nymphs and streamers
- For use in moderate and cold climates
- Braided multifilament core
- SA AMP SMTHMPX WF XF (X = line thickness)
RECOMMENDED CARE:
Do you think your floating line isn't floating as well as it used to or isn't as smooth as it used to be? The reasons and ways to solve this problem are probably quite simple. Fishing lines float because they are lighter than water and because they are hydrophobic; they repel water. In order for the lines to float at their best, both of these features must work. The density of the line will not change, it will not absorb water, it will not soak up and sink, but if it gets dirty it will not repel water well and will float lower in surface tension and may be dragged under water now then. The key to good flotation is to keep the lines clean so that the hydrophobic surface works. Cleaning with soap and water on a cloth removes most dirt, but cleaning swabs work even better. Cleaned properly, your lines will float better, cast better and last longer, definitely a good compromise for a couple of minutes of line maintenance. To use the cleaning swab, pinch the swab over the line so that the abrasive, non-foam side touches the line. Pull the line through the pad while maintaining some tension. Repeat this process until some of the fly line color is visible on the pad. Clean your lines every 2-3 rides, or whenever you think dirt is hindering their performance. Cleaning swabs are easy to carry in your vest or gear bag and can be used at any time, wet or dry. Please note that line dressing can be used to reduce drag during competitions or in practical casting scenarios, but we do not recommend it for fishing.
