The origins of the long, slim fly trace back to the Collie Dog and Sunray Shadow. We have a soft spot for the gracefully tapered fly, and our rendition—the Samurai—has proven to be exceptional. The small turbo paired with the long, straight wing creates an elongated drop form. Sparse and translucent, it's made to be fished fast. The question is, dare you fish them fast enough?

THE FLY

MODEL THE BASTARD TTT SAMURAI

This crossover between two of our most popular flies, Pahtakorva and Nasty Banana, has proven to be just as good as expected. It’s a superb pattern for both slightly coloured rivers and gin-clear waters. We fish them in sizes ranging from big and fat 9 cm to more sparsely tied smaller versions. The spey-like ostrich hackle gives this fly an extra sexy swimming look. Few crossbreeds have proven to be so extremely effective so quickly. The slimmer TTT version retains all the TTT and Samurai benefits. The Bastard may be a bastard, but it's a bloody good one!

MODEL BLACK GREEN HELMET TTT SAMURAI

The fantastic black and green colours work exceptionally well in many rivers around the world. This fly combines a slim Samurai profile with the effective TTT concept, resulting in a deadly combo. It has delivered many great fish over the past year. Whether fishing big and deep in the early season or smaller on a floating line in summer's fast white water, this fly is incredibly effective. It's one of the flies we'd choose if only a handful were allowed. Fish fast and enjoy the brutal takes!

MODEL THE WICKED ONE TTT SAMURAI

This TTT Samurai version of the black and orange theme is wicked indeed. With its slimmer profile, it cuts through the surface directly, offering a dynamic fishing experience. The combination of soft sweeping heron hackles, deep burnt orange soft hair, and a black main wing creates a superb colour scheme. This fly swings lively through even the smoothest pools, making quite an impression. Pimped with orange-dyed JC substitutes in the tail and sides, it's perfect for fishing in whisky-coloured water or even on days with a bit of brown in the water. It's a versatile fly available in all sizes.

MODEL SUNRAY TTT SAMURAI

Sunrays have caught more fish than perhaps any other modern fly. Originating from the Norwegian Laerdal river and Ray Brooks, where Mikael used to ghillie, it has revolutionised the fly tradition in many ways. This soft swimming version, tied on a TTT, maintains the same colours - the striking black and white contrast - but with ostrich hackles forming a modern soft drop form. It swims beautifully. When you see the white and black ostrich fibers mix and move, it's easy to understand why this is such an effective pattern. And like all Samurais, it's designed to be fished fast!

MODEL BLOODY TTT SAMURAI

The blood red and black combination is a cool colour combo. There are quite a few flies with this colouration, but we like it. When wet, the blood red colour becomes very subtle and complements the black in a great way. This is a fly for cloudy days, and as with all TTT flies, some of its magic lies in the fact that it helps to stretch the leader, cut the surface, and start fishing directly when hitting the water.
