FLY SALMON SERIES CLASSIC

This is our largest fly series. We call them classics because of the way they are tied: a wing dividing the front hackles and with the balancing 1/2 turbo cone as head. Most of our flies originates from this family, the complex fly with all ingredients. To us these are the most fun to both tie and fish – they are the classics of our time!

Our fly series are meticulously crafted by what we consider to be the best commercial tiers in the world. With nearly two decades of training under their belts, these artisans skillfully embody Mikael's distinctive style, where each turn of the tying thread holds paramount importance – focusing on tapering, translucency, and movement. THE FLY

MODEL VAEHAENIVA

At the bend at Vaehaeniva Mikael hooked a great fish, his friend said that if he could hold it in the pool he would eat it raw! He did not have to - the salmon took Mikael down through the pools almost a kilometer before they could land it - it weighted over 40 lbs. A super fly for dusk and dawn. A discrete greenish fly that now is the absolute favourite of some of our closest friends.

MODEL SCOTT

The classic black and yellow colour combination, the combination from the best-known fly of them all – The Jock Scott. This modern swimming version is a superb over all general pattern that will work under almost all conditions. We have taken many fish on black and yellow flies and together with Hamilton this is the pattern we choose first.

MODEL FLOMFLUGAN

Flomflugan or “The Flooded Fly” is our hottest coloured fly. A fly that is designed to stick out in the murkiest of waters. No fly box is complete without a fly tied to stand out when conditions are at its trickiest. But don’t underestimate this fly to only fish good at these extreme conditions. We have caught fish on this hot fly even in just slightly humus-coloured waters. The orange fly is a good weapon that probably should be used wider and more often. Fat and with volume it’s one hell of a sexy fly to swim – that’s for sure!

MODEL WILLIE GUN

The British standard classic with its fantastic colour combination - here in a softer even deadlier version - a must in the box. We vary it a bit regarding to water colour. When more colour we do the orange tubing and the gold cone. Over all a fly that works in many places. For salmon, we fish it mostly without the rubber legs, even if they do give the fly extra sound.

MODEL IN FLAMES

It first was known as “Flomflugan”, then it was spiced up and got the name In Flames. This is a hot little thing that’s proved to be good many, many times. When the water goes coloured this is our first choice. For the extreme conditions, we use a bit more flash and end the creation with a fl. orange cone. Don’t forget the orange fly on the clear river too, some days the fish just can’t refuse them.

MODEL MOONSHINE

The yellow fly is ever so popular. This has been a secret weapon in slightly coloured water. Don’t be afraid to leave the orange fly to this clearer appearance, it loves the humus coloured water and blends in nicely. We fish it normally quite small from 4-8 cm. Mikael very often leaves out the rubber legs, in fact for him rubber legs seem to attract the sea trout more than the salmon.

MODEL MIKKELI BLUE

The Classic Alta fly, got its name after Mikael and Håkan Norling’s memorable days on the magic Alta beat. A super fly for dusk and dark. The blue/purple colours stay longest when the light disappears. The fat silhouette makes it a must under the summer moonlight. Fish this big, even over 20 cm. In the biggest sizes, we tie in an extra wing between the body halves. One of our coolest patterns!
