FLY ROD SWING DH

Short, Light Rods - Exceptionally light in the hand and scaled for smaller fish and more intimate waters. Excellent with both compact heads and standard lengths, these rods are a pure joy to fish. When you feel like swinging but the fish aren't that big, this is your rod. We nicknamed him Half-Pounder. Perfect for summer seafood on the Klamath or for grilling everywhere. Excellent with a short floating or sinking tip set up, this rod allows you to use all techniques but is sized to maximize the fun of the smaller specimens in the water. It is also a great rod for fishing for trout or smaller salmon species such as rosehips with a two-handed rod.

ROD CARE:

Scott fly rods are handcrafted from the finest materials for high performance. These simple steps will ensure your Scott fly works its best and lasts a lifetime:

- Assembly and disassembly: Grasp the opposite sections of the rod near the ring without touching the guides and push them firmly together with a downward twisting motion until the sections are aligned and firmly seated. Disassemble by pulling and rotating with your hands near each ring nut but without touching the guides. Internal ferrules should have 1/8-1/2 inch clearance between sections to allow for proper flex and wear.

- Effects of water on your rod: Your rod is made to work on water and is designed to get wet. It is not made to withstand storage while wet. Always dry your barrel completely before storing. Otherwise, the next time you take it out of the case, you will have mold, mildew, finish damage, and/or corrosion on the barrel. Always rinse your rod with fresh water and dry it thoroughly if you have used it in salt water.

 - Prevent barrel breakage: Avoid hitting the barrel with hard or sharp objects such as tree branches, weighted flies, split pellets or rocks. This can break the rod or cause damage that will lead to breakage. When fishing with sink lines, casting in windy conditions or using roll casts and spey style casts, periodically check the rod sections to ensure they are still assembled securely and correctly aligned. If the sections are not well secured it is possible that the rod will break during casting or while fighting a fish. When fighting and catching fish, avoid rod angles greater than 45-50 degrees. Never lift a fish so that the rod end is facing the fish (high hanging) or use your hand to lift the fish from the center of the rod. To remove a snagged fly, point the rod directly at the snag and pull the line back until the fly comes loose or the tippet breaks. It is much less expensive to lose a fly than to break a high-performance handcrafted rod. When stringing the rod, fold the end of the line in half and pull it and the leader through the guides without bending the rod. The tip of your rod is the most vulnerable section since it has a thin diameter, is lightweight, and is usually nine or more feet away from you. Most fly rods get broken in car doors, windows, ceiling fans, vacuum cleaners, pets, or anything other than actual fishing. Greater awareness when moving with the rod mounted or putting it down will prolong its life.

Please take care of your rod and it will take care of you.

HOW TO USE:

To catch rainbow trout and salmon, you need to rotate the fly at the right angle, the right depth and the right speed. The right wand can help solve this puzzle. But these are the fish of a thousand casts, so preferences also play an important role. You can catch the same fish in the same water with one hand, with a short two-handed rod or with the longer rods. You can fish with floating line, sinking line, dry flies, submerged flies, traditional swing, shotgun attachment, nymph and indicator. Long Belly, Skagit, Scandi. The variations are endless. We get it, that's why we've created a series of rods that satisfy your every preference.

The swing rods have been meticulously developed and are packed with technology and attention to detail to meet those needs.

Fished and tested by professional anglers and expert casters from Alaska to the Great Lakes, Canada to Norway, and from the Pacific Northwest to the Northeast, we have left no stone unturned ensuring each rod is tuned for its intended purpose.

The swing-out barrels feature progressive loading actions, fast recovery speed, directional stability and a lightweight feel in the hand, thanks to the combination of new finely tuned tapers with our multi-directional and multi-module layups, ARC2 reinforcement, Carbon Link Resin System and the best components. Innovative components include new Titanium Tangle-Free Stripping guides with Silicon Nitride inserts that allow casts to shoot farther and help prevent tangles in mono or braided running lines. Snake Brand Universal Snake rings grace the rest of the rod to complete the guide set.

We also designed a new fully milled Aluminum reel seat with aggressive threads for cold-handed operation, Type 3 hard shell, and specially milled reel foot pockets that securely hold current performance reels and most reel seats. vintage reels. All new front and rear grip designs crafted from Flor quality Cork ensure comfort, sensitivity and longevity.

Like all Scott fly rods, Swing rods are handcrafted, one at a time, in Montrose, Colorado.
