The origins of the long, slim fly trace back to the Collie Dog and Sunray Shadow. We have a soft spot for the gracefully tapered fly, and our rendition—the Samurai—has proven to be exceptional. The small turbo paired with the long, straight wing creates an elongated drop form. Sparse and translucent, it's made to be fished fast. The question is, dare you fish them fast enough?

THE FLY

MODEL STEALTH TTT SAMURAI*

A superb fly for fast water and gin-clear rivers. The trick to making the fly vanish in the clear water, and with the greyish hackles, produce a camouflaged, living, swimming fly, has for many years proven to work all around the world. We love this fly for Iceland and the Norwegian west coast clear rivers. We believe it's best in that fast current where the TTT can make the swing start when the fly hits the water.

MODEL DEE SAMURAI

We just love that classic black & yellow colour combination. Dee Sheep has been a tremendous success with thousands of salmon on its conscience. The slim fast Samurai version has only been fished a couple of years but oh boy how it works. On a few of last years trips it gave us all fish, all!

MODEL GREY & GREEN SAMURAI

The long slim winged flies effectiveness has now been proved in almost all rivers we fish. It was born in the Norwegian Laerdal rivers greenish tinted water where also this light grayish green version proved to be extremely effective. This pattern has conquered many big bright fish. We prefer to fish it in clear water under a blue sky or light clouds. The Grey & Green is a fly that fish in all possible sizes.

MODEL SILVER SAMURAI

Mikael’s first fish on the Silver Samurai came from “Bolstadhölen” on the Bolstad beat on Vosso, Norway. Can it be more classic? The pool where so many 60-70 lbs been caught! For the clear day on the clear river – this fish fast is a great option. Specially maybe for the super fresh sea liced fish that love to chase that silvery, glittery, shiny, sexy appearance.

MODEL PANTHAKORVA SAMURAI

Pahtakorva is Mikael’s best known pattern. A fly that over the years has taken hundreds of thousands of great fish. The Samurai design, the slimmer long drop form with its wiggling sexy thin wing is another one of Mikael’s inventions. In this fly the two are put together. A fast-fishing Pahtakorva version that is for the clearer river with just a tint of cognac to it. We are thrilled over how this combination proved to be deadly wherever we go. Small or bigger than your hand, they just perform! And again, with Samurais – do you dare to fish them fast enough?
